Knit Vlog No. 15: Quickly Catching Up

Lo and behold! After over a month, it's a new Knit Vlog! In this super quick (seriously, it's like two minutes long) episode I catch you up with the knitting projects that have been flying off of my needles this summer.

In this episode:

Wribbed Wristers, which is a pattern by Joan Janes. You can find my Ravelry page HERE.

Felicity hat for Lucy, a pattern by Wanette Clyde. You can find my Ravelry page for this project HERE. (but I've totally been lazy and haven't updated it yet)

The Kindle Cozy is just something I whipped up on the fly, no real pattern.

Welcome to Knit Vlog number 14! In this episode I knit my way through a bad mood by casting on a quick and easy but lovely Simple Yet Effective Cowl.

Did you ever have a week where everything and everyone seemed to be conspiring against you? That was me the week I cast on this cowl. Everything seemed to be breaking, foul moods were contagious, and the whole week seemed to be one step forward two steps back.

I don't really go into the details here, but I bet you don't need the details to empathize. You've had those kind of weeks, haven't you? Thank goodness for knitting! What would we do without it, right?

You can watch the vlog here on the site or, if it isn't working here for some reason, you can click over to YouTube to check it out.

Episode notes:

Yarn is Plymouth Select Merino Texture in "Teal Shadow" that was gifted to me by a sweet friend

You can find my Ravelry page for this project here

Knit Vlog No. 13 | Save a Horse socks

Note: there are affiliate links in this post. Thanks for your support of Knit Vlog!

Knit Vlog is back with lucky episode number 13! In this episode I go into some detail about how I knit my socks on small circular needles as I share the story of my Save a Horse socks.

So, without further ado, here is Knit Vlog Number 13 | The Save a Horse Socks

If the embedded player isn't working, go directly to the YouTube video here.

You might have noticed a new format for Knit Vlog: now each episode is dedicated to a specific project. I thought it would make it easier for those of you looking for details about individual projects and I thought it would also be neat to document my knitting via project for my future self when I'm looking back on what I've made.

I LOVE this new format and hopefully you do, too!

Show Notes

Mentioned in this episode:

Turtle Purl Yarns etsy shop (my yarn is Striped Turtle Toes in "Save a Horse")

Kristy Glass Knits YouTube channel - here is the episode that I was watching where she interviews Two of Wands

Here are the needles that I prefer to use when I make my socks this way: Clover Bamboo 9" size 1 2.25mm (Amazon affiliate link)

Ravelry page for my finished socks: Save a Horse socks

I should also mention that Lucy, my eight year old, did a lot of the camera work in this episode. She was a wonderful help! Thank you, Lucy!

Knit Vlog No.12 | The Bunny Hat

Okay, okay, it's time to admit it: I've crashed and burned with VEDA. Note to self: no vlogging every day is going to happen during the busiest month of the year for this family.

However, I do have a new Knit Vlog to share with you. This episode tells the story of the Bunny Hat. Enjoy!

If that isn't working, you can go directly to my YouTube channel and view Knit Vlog No.12 here.

Episode Notes

Pattern: The Baby Bunny Hat by Melody Rogers
Yarn: Little Bunny Foo Foo by Gnome Acres (this was a limited edition from 2015)

Knit Vlog No. 11 | Morning & Afternoon

Hello, friends! I've challenged myself during the month of April to participate in Savvy Sexy Social's VEDA, or Vlog Every Day in April, challenge for youTubers who want to get some practice and hone their video skills. I've got MUCH to learn, but I having some fun and am making improvements in how I do things.

It does mean that while I'm focusing on the YouTube side of things this month I'm not finding as much free time for the blog. I do apologize for that, but I'm having so much fun that I hope you'll join me over on my YouTube channel and check out what I am doing over there.

In the meantime, I've recently shared another Knit Vlog, this one even includes some homeschool content.

Knit Vlog No. 10 | All is right in my world again

Oh, self striping sock yarn, I love you, I've missed you, and I wonder why I ever knit socks with anything else? Yes, friends, after all that crazy with the Animal socks (which I LOVE and wear, by the way, despite how knitting them frayed my nerves) I have returned to my old, comfortable love: striped socks.

In this episode we have a park day, I knit some socks, and we all pretend we don't see that large pile of laundry on the dresser behind me.

PS - if you can't view it here, try viewing it over on my YouTube channel. I'm trying to grow the channel and I'd love for you to subscribe if you like what you see there and feel it is a good fit for you.

Show notes coming soon!

Knit Vlog No. 9 | Sunshine and Rain

Salutations, internet! It turns out that writing up a handful of blog posts is proving to be something I cannot find the time or motivation for these days, but whipping up a five minute Knit Vlog for YouTube a couple of times a week is totally working for me. So, I'm going with it!

Here we go: Knit Vlog No. 9 | Sunshine & Rain

Note: this one had some sound issues, but I tried to insert some visual cues to let you know when to turn up or turn down your volume. Learning as we go, friends, learning as we go.

Give me a little bit of time and I'll come back to this space and give you some show notes, okay?

Best wishes!

Knit Vlog No.8 | Pink Salutations Pig

Well, would you look at that? We made another Knit Vlog! Episode number 8 is live: Pink Salutations Pig.

In this episodes I plan to knit some washcloths, have a sock yarn conundrum, and plan a new project for this year's IndyCar season.

You can watch it here on the KEF blog ...

If that isn't working, you can head directly to YouTube and watch the vlog there.

Show Notes:

All of the yarn for the wash cloths is Lily Sugar 'n Cream that we purchased at Joanns.

My Unity tee came from Neighborhood Fiber Company.

The yarn from my Animal socks was purchased from Gnome Acres.

The sock yarn I purchased for the IndyCar themed project is from The Yarn Jar.

Want to know how I knit my socks? Okay. Here you go: the method to my madness.

Knit Vlog No. 7: In sickness and in health

Surprise, Internet! We made you something! That's right: Knit Vlog is back.

This episode is short, sweet, and has socks. You can watch it here:

If this video isn't working, give it a second chance by going directly to YouTube.  Have a wonderful weekend!

A few show notes ...

Our terrarium kit came from this month's Happy Hedgehog Post subscription. We added a few of our own fossils and gems.

The sock yarn I used for the pair of socks featured in this vlog is Red Heart Heart & Sole in the Congo colorway. This is how I make my socks.

My chromebook doesn't have fancy editing software like my old laptop did. So I just use the YouTube video editor for making vlogs. Nothing fancy and it works just fine for me.

I'm already dreaming up the next Knit Vlog. See you soon!
